Please be seated.\nFor your information and for the people sitting in the overflow courtroom, we have tried to accommodate everybody into this proceeding either here in my usual courtroom or in the overflow room. So I hope everybody can hear me.\nThe purpose of today's proceeding, as I'm sure you're all aware, is to conduct a bail hearing. In this matter, as I think you know, the government is seeking continued pretrial remand of Mr. Epstein and the defense is arguing for pretrial release. The parties have submitted helpful written submissions, and they have been placed on the docket.\nYou should also be aware, if you weren't -- I don't think you are -- that there is what's called a pretrial services report. One has been filed with me today.\nTypically the purpose of such a report is to make a recommendation to the Court as to whether there should be bail or detention.\nThere was an additional report -- I think they've gotten additional information in today's report -- and the representatives of pretrial services are here in the court today.\nThe report itself is typically not filed on the docket, but it does conclude as follows.
