Detective Joseph Recarey\n\nDetective Recarey died on May 25, 2018. He joined the Palm Beach Police Department in 1991 as an officer and was promoted to police detective in 1994. During his career, he worked in the police department's Organized Crime Vice and Narcotics Unit, the Department of Justice and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, and the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Public Integrity Unit. He handled high profile cases and instructed law enforcement personnel and civilian members of the community about criminal and narcotics investigations. Throughout his career, Detective Recarey received more than 150 commendations from the law enforcement community, including the Inaugural \"Officer of the Year\" Award by the Palm Beach Police Foundation in 2012. He was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the security camera systems throughout the Town of Palm Beach.5\n\nDetective Recarey served as the lead detective from the Palm Beach Police Department charged with investigating Jeffrey Epstein.
