"full_text": "Case 1:20-cr-00330-PAE Document 741 Filed 08/10/22 Page 37 of 106\nLBTCMAX2\n\nOpening - Ms. Pomerantz\n1 Under this pyramid scheme of abuse, the defendant\n2 could just call girls to schedule massage appointments and hand\n3 them cash afterwards, overseeing the operation and normalizing\n4 the abuse by showing these young girls that she, an older,\n5 purportedly respectable woman, had no problem with the paid sex\n6 acts that were taking place during these so called massages.\n7 For a decade, the defendant played an essential role in this\n8 scheme. She knew exactly what she was doing. She was\n9 dangerous. She was setting young girls up to be molested by a\n10 predator.\n11 That's what we expect the evidence will show, that the\n12 defendant enticed and groomed multiple young girls to engage in\n13 sex acts with Jeffrey Epstein, that the defendant and Epstein\n14 enticed some of those girls to travel to Epstein's homes in\n15 different states, which the defendant knew would result in\n16 sexual abuse.\n17 As a result of these actions, the defendant is charged\n18 in six counts. Four of the counts charge her with working with\n19 Epstein to transport girls under the age of 17 across state\n20 lines to be sexually abused. Two of the counts charge her with\n21 crimes for sex trafficking of minors. Sex trafficking of\n22 minors, as I expect Judge Nathan will instruct you, means\n23 recruiting or enticing a girl under the age of 18 for sex acts\n24 in exchange for money.\n25 Now, how will we prove to you that the defendant is\n\nSOUTHERN DISTRICT REPORTERS, P.C.\n(212) 805-0300\n\nDOJ-OGR-00011702",
