The indictment further charges\n11 that the defendant perjured herself, that she lied under oath\n12 to conceal her crimes.\n13 Your Honor, the charged conduct in this case is\n14 disturbing and the nature and circumstances of the offense are\n15 very serious. The defendant is charged with participating in a\n16 conspiracy to sexually exploit the vulnerable members of our\n17 community. In order to protect the privacy of the victims, I'm\n18 not going to go into details, your Honor, about the particular\n19 victims beyond what's contained in the indictment and our\n20 briefing; but, as the indictment alleges, the defendant enticed\n21 and groomed girls who were as young as 14 years old for sexual\n22 abuse by Jeffrey Epstein, a man who she knew was a predator\n23 with a preference for underaged girls.
